The Original Series (TOS)
The Original series was made more than fifteen years before the next series, and lasted only three years. This show, created by Gene Roddenberry, featured many recurring characters but the favorites were Kirk, Spock, McCoy and Scotty! This show had seven movies afterwards: The Motion Picture, The Wrath of Khan, The Search for Spock, The Voyage Home, The Final Frontier, The Undiscovered Country and Generations.
The Animated Series
This show lasted for only two seasons, and was very unpoular. Gene Roddenberry even said that anything in this show was non-cannon, and therefor, didn't exist in the trek universe.
The Next Generation (TNG)
Although most fans watched this show religiously, some couldn't get into it. But to some people, this was the best!! It featured a whole new cast, which was something not thought of before, and did so well that it aired for seven years, more than twice the time of the original. but during this shows fifth season, Gene Roddenberry, creator of both shows, died. This would not mean that the whole series would stop though!! From this show three spinoff series were made, plus four movies: Generations, which also featured Kirk, Checkov and Scotty, First Contact, Insurrection and the latest movie, Nemesis. |

Deep Space Nine (DS9)
DS9 was different in many ways. For one thing, it was set on a space station, so the 'Alien of the week' would have to come there. Second, Gene Roddenberry never lived to see the pilot, and third: It featured a crew of mostly aliens on an alien station. This show again lasted seven seasons, but there has been no talk of a movie featurring the DS9 crew.
Voyager (VOY)
Star Trek: Voyager was a bold new idea, and was the first show with a ship not being the 'best in the federation' like the Enterprise E or the Defiant. This ship was small, and not as powerfull, but beleive me, this ship looked cool! The crew was different as well; it had a doctor who was also a hologram, and many Maquis crewmemberes! This show lasted seven great seasons, and went out with a bang! There has been talk of a Voyager movie, but it's still a rumor!
Enterprise (ENT)
Enterprise is set 100 years from now, and 100 years before the original series! Mr. Berman called it a prequell. Enterprise is (at the time that I wrote this) now just entering it's third season. It will be there for seven seasons unless a giant asteroid hits denobula... |
